In 1964, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, which was formed by the state’s civil rights activists, travelled to the Democratic National Convention to advocate for the voting rights of blacks in the south and to attempt to unseat the all-white Mississippi delegation.
This year, at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, we spoke to Rev. Ed King and Emma Sanders, who were leaders of the MFDP 52 years ago.
